Common App Problem - School Report

Hi,
On the Common Application, under Counselor section, I saw that "School Report" was downloaded 10/31/2013. But earlier last week Harvard notified me that they had NOT received the School Report/Transcript for the Early Action admission. I solved this problem by having my counselor fax the Transcripts. My question is : How do I know that other schools will not have the same problem ? Does my counselor have to fax the transcript to ALL the other schools which I plan to apply for Regular Admissions. so I asked Common App Help Desk and they gave me this not so helpful response:

"Thank you for your message.
Institution Application Status:
Submitted: Documents have been submitted to the institution and everything is complete in CA system.
Downloaded: Institution has downloaded it in to their system (final step complete)
It’s at the institution discretion on when they download the applications/documentation. This process can within 24-48 hrs but again it’s at the discretion of the school. Please contact the institution on the status of your paperwork or corrections. I hope this answers your question. Please have the institution contact us directly, if they are having downloading issues."

This response does NOT answer my question because obviously Harvard had a problem and it was NOT downloaded by them ( since I had to fax it). Anyone other ideas on what I can do ?

There’s really nothing else you can do directly through common app to improve the ability of your schools to download your applications. At this point you are going to have to deal with each school on a case by case basis and if any has trouble downloading, you will indeed have to find an alternative method of submitting missing materials. The good news, if you can call it that, is this is a common problem this application year, so as Harvard has done in your case, schools will go out of their way to be sure you are aware of any missing materials and give you ample opportunity to submit.

It could be a downloading issue. Or it is just being processed when they notified you. Sometimes, it may take a week or longer between downloading and updating your file.

Usually, colleges will notify a student or his/her school if something is missing. However, this year so many documents are missing because of Common App issue that it’s hard to know how schools will respond.

My daughter has applied to two colleges so far. One had trouble downloading the school report, and the other had no trouble at all. I think you will have to check per college - hopefully, they will all have some sort of portal where you can see if anything is missing.
