Common App School Report

Hello, CCers!

I am currently a high school junior.
Due to my parent's work, I will be transferring to a new school next year (my senior year.) I'm worried that this will affect my college application. I have one question regarding the common app school report. Will it be possible to ask my old high school counselor to write that portion instead of my new high school (senior yr) counselor? According to the school report forms, it says "give this to your secondary school counselor or any school official who knows you better." So I was wondering if I could get it from my old high school counselor since she definitely knows more about me. & even if the counselor needs to report my current rank and stuffs, I won't have a rank in my new school since the recent rank I will get will be the second semester of my junior year. So my old high school counselor is the only one who could write that portion because she has all the information about my rank and my grades. I'm really desperate and worried here. Hope you can help. Thank you!

Depending on how your transcript looks, you will probably actually need two school reports, one from your old counselor (where she can write a narrative rec) and one from your current one (where she can simply provide your current transcript). Counselors are no longer required to write recommendations, and your new counselor will be able to provide your school profile and help place your senior course load in context with what the schol offers. But I cannot see a situation where you would not have to provide a school report from your new school, especially as the new counselor will be responsible for the mid-year report.
