Common App Woes

I was supposed to have a free application to Fordham but I found out that they use the common app form. I submitted my Common App but now they are expecting me to pay. Should I call or submit the free application?

Is it the "my choice" application? I just submitted that instead of the Common App.

Hey, me too! I submitted the "My Choice" Application online and then mailed my school materials (transcript, schedule, resume, scores, etc) the day after. Is that all I have to do? Should I get rid of them on my Common App My Colleges List? Because its bugging me when it says, "Application Not Submitted" and such.

I think the only free application is the My Choice application Fordham sends out to prospective students. If you submit the Common Application, they will be looking for a fee. If you submit two applications that would be a mistake and cause undo confusion and maybe get rejected. If you blew it and only submitted the Common App, then suck it up and submit the fee. Conversely, call Fordham Admissions and see what they say.

My D submitted a Common Application in December 06 (RD for Fall O7). We had to submit the fee. She was admitted, we came to Fordham's Spring Orientation for Admitted Students in April (before the May 1 deadline for final decisions) and decided to attend Fordham based on that wonderful experience (despite the horrific weather that weekend: a Nor'easter). She is now a sophomore at Fordham and thriving.

Good luck.

We received a letter from the president offering to waive the fee if my child should apply. He applied using the Common App and at the end you had to pay. We did not and contacted them the next day. I actually spoke to the president and he said not to worry about the fee, that once they receive the application, they would know from the student applying that the fee was to be waived.

The common application, if submitted electronically, is downloaded from their website into the college's system. All of these applications require a fee, unless you get a waiver from your school/guidance counselor. If you did not pay the required fee when you submitted the common app, your application will indicate that your fee has not been paid.

The Your Choice application is free if you submit it electronically. If, however, you choose to mail it in, you will need to pay the application fee, unless you get a waiver from your school.
