Hey guys,

Im doing my Application by PAPER, to Fordham, using the common app ( i think thats the only way, anyways). Is anyone else doing this?

I have my application and rec's already, but the problem im having is with the supplement. Do i fill out the information online, then just print it and send it in along with my app? because i just printed the blank application from the website filled it out. But in order to print the supplement you have to fill out the info.

So do i just print the supplemental form out after i've filled it out?
Also is it ok to leave things blank (that i dont know), such as "ROTC" and "Teacher Certification programs"? (not interested in any). Lastly, how do i know if im eligible for tuition remission benefits?

also, would it be ok to have the recommendations included in the envelope im going to send everything to Fordham in? I mean the rec will be in a sealed smaller envelope, would this be bad?

Fordham's supplement has no essay question does that mean the only essay(s) required are the common app short answer and the personal statement.

If you want to mail the application and supplement, you can download the forms (pdf files), inluding the supplement at : http://www.fordham.edu/admissions/applying_to_fordham/rose_hill__lincoln_c_14964.asp

You can also save these forms to your computer and type them using the adobe acrobat program.

Personally, I believe it is much easier to submit the application electronically and the college will receive it instantly. Fordham requires that you submit the supplement with the application so the only way they will not receive it is if you forget to submit the supplement or you forget to hit the "submit" button. Once you hit submit for both supplement and application, it is indicated on the common app screen and they send you a confirmation e-mail. It's very easy. Within a week Fordham will mail you a letter to let you know that your application has been received. My d sent her applications electronically and we either got letter or e-mails of their receipt depending on the college.

If your teachers have given you your recommendations to include, it is absolutely not a problem to mail them with your application. Everything you send will be included in your folder and reviewed accordingly.

Also, if you're not interested in ROTC or a teacher certification, of course, you would not check either box - just leave it blank. And tuition remission is for those students whose parents work at the college and are eligible for this benefit, so if your parents do not work there, you are not eligible - check no.

Thanks a lot FordhamAlum ! also if i do send it by paper its easier for me to make the copies and everything, will i also get a confirmation from them within a week? i mean i wouldn't mind mailing it to them express or something like that. Is it a good idea however to call within a week that i sent my application to check if they received it?

If I were you and you want to send it by mail, I would send it express mail, fed ex or us postal service. This way you can check on their website when it was received and who signed for it. I sent some letters overnight via usps and that site shows when it was received, date & time and the name of the person who signed for it, so I know that info is at the college. I would think it is not a good idea to phone a college to check if your application was received. They are extremely busy and if every 20,000+ applicant phoned the office, it would be total caos. Also, if you are mailing in your application, I would not expect a response within a week. Mailed applications have to be hand typed into the system, first come first serve and this takes time versus sending the application electronically and it being instantly placed on the system.

^^ hmm okie, so do u think its best to express mail it, so i can check who recieved it and save it to my records? that way i can call them say...a few weeks after just to get some type of reassurance? its true that they would be overwhelmed with 20,000 applicants, but i guess we can assume that more than half will send electronic, and they should have some sort of general sense or idea or whose application was received or not right?

This is such an exciting time at Fordham! So many GREAT kids got in and are presently attending. NONE of them, to my knowledge, regret their decisions. Its becoming very competitive to get into Fordham. But while that is stressful for applicants and parents, its also very exciting knowing that top drawer kids are applying, getting in and attending. This is definitely a school on the move. And their football team is 8-2 presently! AWESOME!

I wish all this year's applicants the best of luck and if you get in, I strongly encourage you to attend.

But be prepared. Fordham kids work really hard. Its not one of those schools that are hard to get into, but easy once you are there. The workload is enormous.

My kid is very challenged, but not overwhelmed. And the foodservice? Don't believe that stuff on Princeton Review. Its GREAT FOOD!
What a school!

Good luck on your apps!
