Should i fill it in as much as possible or only do what is required?

Also, should I fill in my ethnicity even if it is the majority of the school I’m applying to?

The Common Application makes clear that the ethnicity question is OPTIONAL, which is the federal law on the subject. The long answer about whether or not you should fill in your ethnicity is the subject of many posts on a different thread.

I was just taking a look at the teacher evaluations to see what changes had been made, and for Teacher Evaluation 1 it automatically puts my GC’s info where the teacher information should go and won’t let me get rid of it. Obviously I have a little while before I have to worry about this in September, but should I just give both teachers the 2nd form since the first one has my GC’s info permanently on it?

In the testing section for all the tests, above the date it says “Date Taken/To Be Taken.”

Should we report all of our planned standardized testing dates? Should we also include 2009 AP tests to be taken?

Thanks for the help!

I have another question concerning the awards section. Am I really not allowed to put non-academic awards there? I was awarded for participating in an Area-All state Orchestra (hard to get into) and I’m not sure if I’m allowed to put it in or not. Any thoughts?

sigh

CC administrators, can we please have a common app forum?
Asking questions on this one thread is very disorganized and many of our questions become unanswered as this thread is posted on every day.

I wholeheartedly second Cafesimone’s suggestion.

(I hope my recently posted question doesn’t get lost in the flood)

I second that motion!

And I fourth the motion …

One thread it stays. As it is, people post off-topic posts everywhere (like requests for new forums), and simply reading a few posts in the forum will find the questions and their answers.

If you know definitely that you will be taking certain tests in your application year, you may as well report those dates, including AP test dates. That’s why the form is designed to show “date to be taken” for the various kinds of tests.

Hippo724, same question. Can i put a College Book award in the Awards Section, or a Questbridge award?

Answering Hippo724 and jojodevka, the line between academic and nonacademic looks pretty clear to me. Music is an activity, which may result in awards, and a book award is based on school work, and surely academic. QuestBridge, insofar as it recognizes leadership outside the classroom and community involvement, could be mentioned as an activity award, but there is a case for calling it an academic award because it is also based on grades and tests. There aren’t a lot of ambiguous cases, really.

What are some times of academic awards that people are putting down? is there anything else besides like honor roll and book awards? I can’t seem to think of any

The AP scholar awards of various levels are certainly academic awards. Being elected to National Honor Society or to Cum Laude are other examples. Some schools or regions may have particular academic competitions that might apply.

I don’t mean to be annoying by asking again, but I really am stumped!

If one of my parents is deceased, do I still have to fill out all of the fields, like address (besides name, et cetera)?

If you have the information, fill it out. Why would you not?

Thank you for the response tokenadult!

I’m hoping commonappguy will come back and do that rapid fire answer-every-question thing again :)

I hope commonappguy is enjoying his Independence Day holiday, and I too look forward to him coming back to answer more questions here.

georgeanne: no. if your parent is deceased, it’s kind of impossible for him/her to have an address.

when I list AP exams to be taken it tells me that I need to fill in a score, which of course I don’t have. I’m assuming that this is just a kink in the site.
