Question - for Work Experience, what do you put down for employer? The company’s name (like Barnes and Noble) or the name of your boss?

It’s confusing me because they use the term “employer” ugh

I worked a privately owned restaraunt so would it make sense to put my boss’s name (the owner) or the name of the restaraunt? Also at a mall cart… mall cart owner’s name or the name of the cart? eek

Hey-
I’ve begun to work on my common app, and under the offices/accomplishments/etc., I can condense everything to fit under the character limit of the common apps online form. However, when I do a “Quick Print” the font size is quite large and very little of my submitted information is displayed. It kind of just runs off the page so to say. Do you know if colleges receiving this application online will be able to see all of the info allowed online or just what I see under “Quick Print?”

Are things like NHS and National French Honor society considered school or national recognition. They’re called national, but they’re decided on a school level, so I’m not sure.

^^ This is a really good question. Anyone have any thoughts?

1) Say that I only worked for the month of June. The Common App says to put approximate dates (mm/yyyy - mm/yyyy). Do I put 6/2008 - 7/2008? Or 6/2008 - 6/2008?

2) What on earth do you put for [Guidance] Counselor’s Position?? Obviously aren’t they a guidance counselor??

1.) Oh my goodness. People here have questions about every itty-bitty thing. Just pick one.
2.) You just put guidance counselor or academic counselor.

The app asks you to list any college courses you’ve taken for credit –
Is this optional at all? i.e., can you pick and choose only the courses you really think will make you stand out?
If not, do you still have to list (and provide a transcript for) courses you’ve taken that will appear on your official high school transcript anyway via concurrent enrollment during the school year?

As for college courses you’ve taken for credit, what if the site doesn’t LIST your college? Cause I took them at a community college that doesn’t appear in their CEEB code list, when you search for it. Do those courses not count or do you just enter the information and not worry about the CEEB code?

So I won about 5 awards one single year in the intel science fair for various things all related to engineering. So here’s the deal-io! I want to enter intel as an ec for my common app so I put it down as science and math and entered the total hours spent on the project. Problem is where you enter honors and awards they don’t all fit into the box! What is the best way to enter all 5 awards, because I certainly wouldn’t want to leave any out!
