Quick question: I was a bit confused by the following wording in the Common App FAQ:

"Must the supplements be submitted at the same time as the Common Application?

Some institutions are identified as ‘All-in-1’ in your ‘My Checklist’ section. These institutions require that both your application and your supplement be submitted before they will review and consider your application package. Additionally, if you submit your application electronically, you must submit your supplement electronically as well (it cannot be printed and mailed). "

The last part about supplements needing to be submitted electronically if the common application has been submitted electronically - does that only apply to ‘All-in-1’ schools?

If I’m applying ED to a college, it says that before I submit my application I must notify the college. Of course I know I’m supposed to do that but how exactly do I notify the college? I found an ED agreement in the Download Forms tab of the commonapp website and I also found an ED agreement on that particular college’s site. Which one should I use?
And how do I submit the form?
Should I fill it online and attach it in additional information or should I call the Admissions Office of the college and notify them by printing the ED form and mailing/faxing it to them?

I’m so confused about ED right now.
Any help would be appreciated.

on the common app, for paid jobs, do jobs where money is given to me under the table (or in other words jobs where my pay is non-taxable) count as a paid job?

Oh gosh! They wudn’t know if it was under the table or over it! Just don’t worry abt these thing man! And pray, plz don’t write about illegal jobs where u were a middle-man in a real-estate deal or sumthin! Please!!

cuz i work at a lab like a lot of people here and its not a formal job since i count moreso as like a lab assistant/intern, but then the professor gives me money because im there a lot and i save them a lot of time and effort in a lot of things. how does this compare to the situation of the lab assistant who just flat out doesnt get paid anything?

gosh … the way you put it .. i thot u were a drug dealer or sumthin! sorry!
ok … just put your job down … even I work for a researcher here doin sum of his calculations etc .. and he pays me a little, like tip sort of! tehy aren’t asking to submit ur tax files or bank statement … sorry again!!

ugh, i dont like the thoughts of having to winnow this as either a job or just an extracurricular.

does the common app like deem you as a liar for something as simple as a disagreement as to whether you have a job or not? since the way it is, its annoying because they dont have any real instructions like the uc app does or anything, so it just makes it not as fun D:. and im just concerned about the whole lying thing and what actually constitutes lying.

Has anyone figured out how to delete senior year high school courses. My D just changed her schedule and she had already entered the info in. Thanks.

Hey, my English Teacher is also my counselor, and she’s going to be filling in the teacher evaluation 1 as well as the secondary school report… Is it something to be worried about since it’s the same person filling 2 forms?

I don’t want to replace my english teacher’s eval as it is going to be superb, and at the same time she’s my counselor too.

Why would you have one teacher fill out two forms? They’re going to be exactly the same. In the counselor rec, your English teacher won’t say anything different from the teacher rec, so it really doesn’t make sense to me at all.

You always have the Additional Information section to write more. But only include awards and activities that have substance - do you really need to list twenty awards? Just list those that are most important and show what kind of person you are.

Ex) You don’t need to put down Student of the Month.

do colleges care if the common app evaluation forms are handwritten or typed?

i downloaded the pdf form of the counselor evaluation and started typing in the applicant information, but then i realized the counselor form could not be typed, since there is no way to save the pdf and transfer it to my counselor.

should i type my part and let my counselor handwrite? the other way around? or have the entire form handwritten ?

i guess ur part will already be typed in by CommonApp(nice little feature!!, tho pretty inefficient sense of placement) and yes, the form can’t be typed(which is in my one obvious because its a pdf …). So, u take out a print out and gift ur counselor ur lucky pen and he/she can do the needful!!

mc1600: ^Type in whatever you can (you should be able to type the part of the evaluation form that the student is supposed to fill out) and then have your guidance counselor fill out by hand what he/she is responsible for. Colleges don’t expect the recommendation forms to be typed (the part it’s impossible to type), but remember that the letters of rec absolutely should be typed.

^ Well, I tend to answer the questions that I know you’ve answered, because you tend to respond in a somewhat immature way (no offense) and it might make some people not sure whether they should believe you.
