Hello, this is my first post here. I am the parent of college-bound children, and I was just looking at the Common Application form. But is there a way to type on the PDF file on your computer so that you can save and revise it (not handwrite the answers)? Any tricks to this? Thanks!

If you enter and submit the CA online, then it isnt a matter of typing onto a PDF. It is typing onto a form, and then a PDF is generated for your records. The schools get an electronic edition, which presumably they can also print out as a PDF.

Since we Homeschool we have to do the counselor form and the homeschooling suppliment, both of which are PDFs, and need to be filled out as such. There are several different ways to deal with this. A couple are answered here:

I had no luck with the utility that changes a PDF to an editable word doc. I did not try the method of scanning the document into word (even though I was the one who posted it)

There are quite a few software packages out there that allow you to enter data onto a PDF. These range from Adobe, which costs 100s, to a shareware program for $20. All these give 30 day trials, but if you go to print them out they put an obnoxious advertisment on the page. You have to pay to actually print them out. Still, it gives you a chance to check them out. I tried several yesterday, and I found the easiest to use was the $20 shareware. Like the others, it does not allow a clean print out. http://www.pdfill.com/

If you want to try others, type PDF editor into google and you will get lots of hits.

Thanks-- yes, I was looking at the Homeschool supplement, and trying to type on the PDF file. I will look into the thread that has more information about accomplishing this. Thanks for the link!
