3 "Applicant Personal Evaluation Form 2007"

is that same thing as 'school report' on common application?

and my ohter question about supplementary materials-

im apply to tepper- and they say if you are not applying to one of the schools in College of Fine Arts, then they discourage you to submit the supplemental materials.

I play piano- and i recorded and saved them in CDs.

should i send supplemental materials? or not?

has any one of you guys send supplemental materials even if you are not applying to college of arts ??

thanks in advance!

bump bump ... anyone?? please?

If you are a good enough pianist that you think the admissions department cares and/or you plan on playing piano at CMU, perhaps as a minor or in the orchestra, then send the recording. Also, if piano is a big extracurricular for you, send the CD. If it's not a very big thing for you, then I'm not sure what to say- if you send it, the worst thing that can happen is that it goes in the trash. I didn't send any recordings (CS, I play viola).

I'd say no. I'm very strong at my instrument but I don't have intentions to major in it at cmu, although I am certainly going to be taking lessons with a professor I know there. But because CMU divides it up according to schools, as talented as you may be, it's kind of rendered useless for them if you won't be applying to CFA. You could of course say that you want to take part in music ensembles or what have you in college, and I'm sure your extracurricular involvement with the piano will come through to the admissions officers even without the recording. The recordings however will be useful for other schools you may apply to under regular decision, bc some schools love that.
