commonapp additional information

Hey guys,

I have a question about the additional information section on commonapp.

I attended a national history prize in England and got my research essay recommended by the committee (1 first prize, 1 second prize, 3 recommended).

Since I would like to be a history major in my future university, I'm thinking whether I should attach a copy of my essay in the additional information section.

This is just a preliminary thought cuz I know it might be bit risky.

My research essay is 4,000 word long.

It's about the impacts of norman conquest - I divided the whole piece into different sections such as intro/ anglo-norman government/ feudalism/ law and justice etc etc.

In this way, the approach I have adopted in writing the essay should be quite straight-forward.

If I do decide to attach the essay with a cover page of some details about the prize, do you guys think the AOs would pass it on to their history department for review?

What are the pros and cons of doing so?

Thanks millions for 'rescuing' me before the November deadline!

xx

Look at the website (or ask) for each college your CommonApp is going to. Because Stanford, for example, says NOT to include newspaper articles, awards, certificates, research abstracts, etc. Some might value those things, but some don’t even want to see them.

Hey SeekingUni,

Thx!

I know Stanford hates it. lol~

SO I’d create another version of Common app to avoid annoying them.

Good idea to ask the college!

Thanks millions!!! : )
