So for some schools like brown they ask you to list in order of influence of how you learned about the school and i had a few questions....

Is there anyway that the schools can actually check if you've attended their college visit at your school?

Also, if you list someone's name as a "current student" as one of your influences, is that college going to contact that student or something? (because I've only heard of the person, i haven't actually talked to him) Thanks!

How much does this question influence admissions? Thanks!

I’m not an admissions officer by any means but here are my two cents,

As an Ivy, Brown gets tens of thousands of applications every year. Yours will be read very quickly, and colleges rarely do any fact-checking unless something really unusual stands out (a unique EC, for example).
In general, this question sounds more like a marketing survey than an actual question for your application… But since Brown is so selective you want to fill in everything as best you can.

However, and this is slightly unrelated, if you haven’t visited Brown and didn’t actually hear that “current student” talk about it, are you sure you want to apply? Is there actually something about the school (a program, a teacher) that you know for sure you’ll like, or are you just considering the prestige of the Ivy League?
