i know a lot of ppl think communication is a slack major, but then maybe it is at some schools. just wondering if penn students feel the same way about penn’s program. annenburg’s supposed to the the best, right?

At the elite journalism and communication schools in the country: Syracuse, Northwestern, Missouri-Columbia, UNC-Chapel Hill, Indiana University-Bloomington, USC, Boston Unviersity and Penn, the classes are taken very seriously and are respected throughout campus.

Penn's program is based on theoretical methods rather than pratical, but is still highly regarded. Especially since our campus has arguably the best student run paper in the country, "The Daily Pennsylvanian." We have won numerous regional and national awards and have received praise from many organizations, such as the Princeton Review.

Even if people assume that communication is a "slack" major, as I recall, the slackers that take these classes are bringing people all over the world information. In fact, one might say that communication majors have a very difficult profession coming out of college because it is their responsibility to make sure the rest of us are informed. Whether it be print media, television, or radio, the field is of extreme importance.
