i met a penn admissions officer who told me that… i hope its true, but i also heard northwestern, syracuse, and boston had better programs.

From what my communications major friends have told me, only USC's is arguably better. And it is also called the Annenberg School for Communications.

Technically, USC's Undergrad Comm is historically meant to be better... Both are Annenberg Schools for Comm, donated by (guess who) Walter Annenberg- to Penn for a graduate program for Comm and to USC for an undergrad program- that's why Penn used to have an application process for and limit on the number of undergrad comm majors per class.

However, just before he died, Annenberg donated more $$ to Penn's program which helped them expand. Annenberg & Newhouse (Syracuse) are generally considered 1 & 2 in comm grad, and though I don't belive there is a true rank for undergrad, it would probably be USC, Penn & Syracuse at the top 3, followed by BU and Northwestern.

(You also may want to consider that Syracuse is in the Middle of Nowhere, and BU, though cool for being in Boston, has like NO campus... My best friend is at Syracuse and everything is SNOW and the city is run down and non-existent... BU doesn't have a band or a football team, which says something about the school spirit/campus comraderie... can you tell they were my 2nd choice & safety? ;))

From some advice about Penn though- the 2 intro classes are painfully boring to the exent where I often thought smashing my head with a large mallet would be more fun... Every other comm class I've taken has been very rewarding, particularly due to the typically small class size, & interesting Professors who are passionate about the subjects that they teach and very willing to speak with you about stuff.

And of course, don't forget the comm-girls...

snipanlol you have intrigued me. what about the comm-girls?

That is for me to know and for you to find out, when you are attending Penn.

doesn't penn state have a good comm school too?

What, this isn't the Penn State board?

lol i was just wondering since ppl were mentioning top comm schools.

No, I am asking. Is this board for some other university than Penn State? What school is it? Penn Fake University? P-FU!

what a rude mofo

Haha, come on. It was a joke! You know, same as with the "Not Penn State" t-shirts.

I'm gonna stay mad at you until you reveal that confidential information about the comm-girls

Oh yeah - the comm-girls. Try looking for girls with communications major at thefacebook.

Syracuse also offers an amazing communications program for undergrad...arguably one of the best in the country

I don't have my Pennkey yet

manyalasagna- poke. I said that already :)

Neobez- Most comm girls are attractive, I'll give them that. A lot of them are also pretty vapid.

Which actually may be a good thing, since I think it helps my GPA.

I require evidence

commgirls, spill.
