I received a letter saying that i was accepted into NU's Communication Century Scholar program. I was wondering what this is like. what will my opportunities be? what will make me different than the other kids at NU and its college of communications?

i am still deciding between USC, Northwestern, and Duke btw.

thanks

Hey jobe -
I don’t really have anything to add, but I wanted to mention I got this letter also. I’m curious to know how big of a deal this is, so I should know how honored to feel, haha.

I am not sure what USC program you are in but as far as NU vs Duke goes, NU is the winner, assuming your intended major is film/communication.

If you are into other areas, the quarter system would give you more flexibility to sample courses across different schools. You can double or even triple major within communications school or with any field in the arts & sciences school.

are you sure you can double or triple major WITHIN the School of Communications? because i read that you cant… can anyone verify one way or the other? thanks

Is there anyway I can still apply or get into this Communication Century Scholar thing?

…
I wonder what their criteria was.

I’m wondering that too. I was asked to be in the program, but I’m not quite sure why…

Maybe my high school activities showed my previous experience with communication?

Maybe my SAT/ACT were higher than the average comm. student?

Not sure, but trying to think of honest reasons…

^Did you send them a picture?

Were you contacted through email or snail mail?
