I was accepted as a polisci major but ultimately want to go into journalism (with a focus probably on politics....)

Should I switch to communication studies?

no ..you could prolly do more with a poli sci major..

but if you do decide to transfer to Comm., it won't be that difficult because you will already have covered many of the Comm. lower division classes with the Poli Sci major ..if that makes any sense

What kind of journalism? Print/Magazine, Online, or Broadcast? You should probably be majoring in whatever you want to be reporting about (Poli Sci, International Studies, whatever), or even English.

UCLA has one of the best college daily's in the country if you want to go into print journalism.

Not really sure about Broadcast though.

you'd be better of majoring in polisci for the background. the journalism skills will be refined by your extracurriculars and probably again taught on the job.

highly recommend you to write for the daily bruin if your goal is print journalism; it's one of the top college papers and the top in california.

Does anyone have a link with to a national ranking of college newspapers? I've been looking for one because I'm curious as to who the Daily Bruin's peer competitors are in terms of newspapers and journalism, but can't seem to find any...
