Does it mean anything if the DOA sends a handwritten card following the interview?

Does it mean anything if the school offers a shadow day before M10?

Almost all BS AOs send handwritten notes after an interview. Recently, as a BS Alum Rep, I had two local interviews and after submitting my paperwork/ impressions to the school, I wrote my notes to both candidates and sent them off the next day. Do some BS AOs/ Alum Reps email candidates after an interview? Yes, absolutely, but I find that, following an interview, almost all prefer to go old school with a handwritten note. The big question is : Did you send a note to the AO thanking them for your interview and tour? If you didn’t- I’d get on it . :wink:

Also- FWIW- sending a student tour guide a thank-you note via email is totally fine. In fact, that’s what almost all candidates do. Sending an AO/BSAR a thank-you note via email instead of a handwritten note is your choice… just as long as you send something.

A shadow day prior to M10 is very common at all boy and all girl BSs. I would be really, really surprised if a coed BS in the Top 30 offered a shadow day to anyone before M10 … but stranger things have happened so who the heck knows!

All the best and good luck!!

A handwritten note from your AO means they are following up after the interview. Nothing more.

Some schools (usually smaller ones - we found it at a few day schools too) offer a shadow day prior to M10. They have decided that this process works for them. We found they were offered after applications were submitted. A few small day schools had a shadow day before application.

Good luck with the process.

If you start receiving handwritten notes in late Feb/early March, then you can read something into it. (But if you don’t, don’t read anything into that either, as most schools are overwhelmed at this point.)

Good luck!

The only offer of a shadow day for my D came from the Gunnery… And they suggested it immediately after her interview.

Did she get accepted?

The offer was from a boys school

Yes, she was accepted there… And she also received handwritten notes from the AO at every school she visited ( and was not accepted at every school).

Do you guys think that not getting a handwritten note from an AO means a rejection come M10?

@AECDH20 Not at all. There’s lots of testimony on this forum which tells you that not everyone gets notes but are still accepted; all depends on the school, the AO or even just the day on whether a follow up note is sent.

As I’ve written many many times on the college forums, there are no tea leaves to be read. The only definitive answer comes on M10.

Yes @AECDH20 @skieurope This is real life… Divination only exists in Harry Potter… :)) :wink:

@Atria lol
