Well my GPA is not that bright as you can see and it wouldn't make any self-respective college want to accept me but I've given it some thought. I've consulted with my college adviser and apparently there's a small chance that I can still get into a University if I can maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout my 2 years in a Community College.. that is if I haven't screwed my chances with Community Colleges yet but my questions is... Is it possible to transfer after one year? And how likely are my chances getting into a prestigious University if I can keep my average above 3.8. Will my high GPA have any say in what Universities I can transfer to? Any help would be appreciated.

It’s unclear what GPAs you are talking about. Is your 2.4 GPA in CC or HS? Once you’ve taken two years of college most schools won’t look at your HS record.

If I understand what you’re saying you have a 2.4 HS GPA?

Advice number one, ignore everything your “college adviser” is telling you. Attending a CC is a GPA reset. Universities will look at what you did in your CC as the best indicator of your potential, and you by no means need a 4.0 there to get into a 4-year college. As for transferring after one year, it depends on the colleges you are applying to. As for prestigious, the most selective colleges look at more than just GPA. Your ECs, essays, letters of rec, all are going to play an important role. So “high GPA” on its own means nothing.

I believe you’re a high school senior who’s enrolling in CC in the summer/fall right? You can definitely transfer to a great state school if you’re GPA is good. Transferring to an elite school is very difficult - I know Yale takes like 10 transfer students a year. You’d need a convincing reason to go there, not just because it’s “an elite school.”
