I'm sure a lot of you guys have taken classes at your local CC. I'm just wondering how you guys did it in terms of scheduling? Did you take the class after your in-school lunch period and drive over? Or was it an evening class?

I want to take Multi-variable Calc and then Diffy Qs 2nd semester, if that's important.

I was going to take a class at U of Oregon but there were transportation complications. If I had done it, I would’ve gone there in the morning and rode on the public bus system to school after class

At my school, there’s a program, but it only lets you take classes at a university here, not the community college. Normally, they set it up so you leave after 6th bell and go there, but that’s not possible for everyone, so then they just do what they can.

I took intro psych @ my CC because my school did not offer AP Psychology. It was a 3 hour long evening class (we met every Wednesday…and it was brutal! I always got home every Wednesday at 10pm, leaving little or no time for regular school homework!)

Anyways! A lot of students at my HS take CC classes and they do all the scheduling themselves. The catalog lists the times and days the class meets and we pick the appropriate class that would fit into schedule (oftentimes it would be an evening class. we’re not allowed to skip classes during the day for a CC class :p).

In my experience the teachers at community colleges are not good… Also both multivariable and “diffy Q’s” (haha I love that expression) are really friggin boring. I recommend that you find a USAMO paper and ask a teacher to go through it with you (most good teachers will be delighted that you are doing indipendent work and will be happy to help) it’s not all that much about learning new math but more about how to apply your knolwedge to questions that don’t look like anything from your notes.
