i was wondering how much weight is placed on college courses taken during the summer at a community college (organic chemistry and linear algebra in my case). i've heard that it isn't that great, since the adcoms don't know how rigorous your course was... is this true? thanks.

im interested in this as well.

also, i thikn its more impressive if you take college classes at a university.

The weight on the college courses is about the same weight for APs in high school. Nothing significant. After all, many high school students go to community college because the class is not offered at the high school.

In my school the community college course is given no weight at all, for it is seen as on par with a college prep course. Of course the CC is supposed to do just that: prepare one for entry at a four-year school, so the high school equates that mission with those of its regular classes.
