Hello everyone
I'm an international student and this fall semester I am attending English Intensive Course in City College of San Francisco, after that, I am going to spend 2 years at community college and apply to UC as a transfer applicant

And now, the problem is that I can't figure out what Community College I should attend in:City College of San Francisco (CCSF) or De Anza College ? Which School has better transfer program? Which has more motivated students?

My major will be Finance or Business Administration and the administration deadline will be on Oct 31 rd

It's serious because I need to do everything in order to raise my chance of being accepted by some UC ( I know its too soon to talk about this, but some colleges in UC system have been my dream school so far, and I will try my best for it)

The most important thing is your grades, GPA, and in general how well you do in school, not which school you go to. You might check to see if both school are equal in the class offerings in your area of interest. To transfer it is best to finish all your GE’s and any lower division classes in your major. Some CCC have better course offerings which will allow you to do this.

Go to assist.org and enter one of the community colleges and one of the UC’s you are interested in. Then enter a major you might be interested in. You can see which classes that CCC has that count towards that major. For instance my community college doesn’t have all the classes in History that you would need at UC Davis, but another CCC in my area does. If you have a choice of where to attend you might keep that in mind. Normally I would suggest the smaller school as you might have better chances of meeting with counselors and getting the classes. But City College might have great class offerings since they are so big.

But as I said, your GPA, extra curriculars, and your preparation in completing all GE’s is the most important. Whichever school you choose, meet with a counselor early and establish a relationship and have them help keep you on track to transfer.

I am adding this as I just now looked at the chart you had the link to. Looks like De Anza does great with transfers. It has almost as many as City College while only having one quarter of the students. Based on that chart I would say De Anza.

I just transferred out of CCSF. Go to the school that is closer to where you stay because it will be more convenient. Also, look to see if the colleges have the classes you need to transfer.

Use [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) to see which community colleges have courses needed for the majors at UCs and CSUs that you are interested in. You can take courses at more than one community college to maximize prerequisite coverage before applying to transfer.

You may also want to check each community college to see if the courses listed on [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) are still offered, because there are a few cases where the listed course matching a UC or CSU prerequisite is no longer offered.

Haven’t gone to CCSF but De Anza is crowded because there are so many kids. So keep that in mind for registration, parking, etc. It’s a good school with good teachers though - there are a lot of classes offered. There are clubs and stuff to get involved with if you want to have extracirrics on your app as well. But if you’re commuting from SF (I don’t know where in the Bay you are from your post), that’s going to be an annoying commute lol. I went from Fremont to Cupertino (~30 minutes) and even that got tiring.

It doesn’t matter where you go, honestly. So long as you get your classes done, get good grades in them, you should be good to go. I’ve met people from CCSF and De Anza at Berkeley during my orientation, so just do your best!

@MooseDog & dezziner : I am an international student, and I will contact some native family for home stay. Therefore, if I change school, I will move to a new place.

Thank you all for advice, I am going to see De Anza councilor to have a talk, after that I will have my final decision .

De Anza is a great communtiy college:D. they do most of their transfers to UC Davis… they have good classes and the environment there is amazing. I took a class there this summer, and i really liked it there way better than other community colleges i took classes at… then again… depends where you are living now because its in Cupertino, and the drive is 30 mins… or more depending where you are coming from. well good luck hope you find the best college that suits you.
