Community college in California

Pls give me some idea about any good community college in California where have the most students go to UC-Berkeley,UCLA.

Most CCC'S Are good schools. Whereabouts in Cali are you located? I attend Saddleback in Mission Viejo, and I can vouch for it.

I live in Hong Kong. I am going to study in Cali. Although my exam. result is good, I think that cc is a good way to go to a great university. Have you heard Foothill college. What you think?

Foothill College is an excellent CCC with many resources that will help you get into UCLA and Berkeley. I'm actually from De Anza College which is within the same district, the schools are associated, De Anza College is just slightly bigger. Both schools run on a quarter system (faster paced, 3 quarters, more classes) which prepares you for UCLA if you get admitted. Berkeley runs on a semester system. Foothill offers TAP for UCLA which really helps your chances of getting into UCLA if you complete it, and it also gives you consideration for 2nd major of choice. If you can handle it I suggest doing the honors program to give yourself another boost. Overall, the transfer rate at Foothill College/De Anza College is outstanding and you wouldn't go wrong with either one.

How about Pasadena City College. Lots of chinese international students here. We have people successfully transfer to UCLA because of the TAP program here. Academically here, it's pretty good.

Jenny, the CCCs are not ranked like you may think. You can go to any California community college, do good, and then transfer to UCLA or Berkeley. The system is specifically designed this way as to not discriminate against any Californian.

agree w/ gabe. just to go ucla's website and see which ccc have tap. thats the only advantage that exists. ucb doesn't have any transfer programs.

choose a ccc thats not crowded, decent counselors, and a variety of classes offered.

There are so many hongkong students in Foothilllll

Gabe and highschoolda said it.

ooopps sorry

No I wasn't talking about you Muq1 hahaha.

hahaha. in the e-mail, it said you replied to my thread....:(

I hate collegeconfidential emails!

Yeah--I changed that option so I don't subscribe to any threads.

actually, next year, de anza will offer the TAP UCLA program as well. (just heads up.)

Thats great! TAP has been a wonderful thing for many of the students here at Pierce College. However, I did meet someone who got into UCLA biochem with a 3.4 GPA non-TAP. But that was in the late 90's.

Whats the minimum GPA for TAP?

...depends on the school. At mine I believe it is a 3.2.

I believe at my CC it was a 3.0. However if you get a 3.2, even with TAP you'll have a very hard time finding yourself at UCLA or Cal the following year.

Yeah...that's why they can't say 100% of TAP students get into UCLA...the truth is it is probably 100% for those who have like a 3.6 and above--maybe even a 3.5 and above.
