Hi, my son is interested in attending Santa Fe CC and then, hopefully, transferring to UF. I know that there are private dorms in Tallahassee and only an all girls private dorm in Gainesville so he would probably live in an apt. with friends who attend UF. Does anyone know what the distance to the CC is from the UF campus and if there is a good bus system to get him there? Thanks for any comments!

I believe the driving distance between UF and SFCC is about 15 minutes. Gainesville's bus system is called the regional transit system (RTS).

Hope this helps :)

Thanx melissa! Does anyone have any suggestions for apts. that would be convenient for kids going to both UF and Santa Fe?

You can look up the RTS routes on RTS - Regional Transit System, Gainesville Fl.

I dont think its a hassle to commute to Santa Fe, most people I know that go there live no where near it. You are probably better off finding something closer to the UF campus for the kid that goes there. I dont commute but it looks like a pain.

There's a Sante Fe bus (route 43), but it runs only once an hour. Here's the route:

[url=http://www.go-rts.com/Fall07/maps.html]RTS - Regional Transit System, Gainesville Fl/url

He would have to not have any night classes, since the bus stops at about 6:40. He could take a bus to campus from his apartment and get on the stop at center drive (see route) for the 43. Then take the 43 to SFCC and back to campus when he's done. And then take the original bus to get back home. So it will take 2 buses to get back and forth, it's a lot easier if he had a car.
