Community college or Cal state?

<p>Currently, I'm a freshman at CSUF. However, my main goal is to go to USC or other UC's.
I've seen a lot of websites and threads (here), and I notice that compare to community colleges, it is more harder to transfer to those schools. So, I'm thinking about maybe(?) dropping out and go to a CC. But, my parents think that I'm taking the risk. Like, what if I don't get into any of the schools? (Is that even possible? And is it hard? Easy?) They rather me to stay at CSUF and transfer, because if I don't transfer successfully, I can still stay here.
Can anyone recommend or maybe suggest which path should I choose? Also, if I'm choosing community college? (Like IVC and OCC, does anyone know which is better for me?)
Thanks in advance!!</p>

<p>You should take this question to the Transfer Forum. There is a sub-forum there just for UC issues: [Transfer</a> Students - College Confidential](<a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/]Transfer”>Transfer Students - College Confidential Forums)</p>

<p>Thanks for your help!</p>

<p>Many UC schools offer guaranteed admission to CC students, but you have to earn a minimum GPA. So you’d be taking a chance of not meeting the standard. You should have a good idea of your academic potential after a year at CSUF; I wouldn’t say that a CC is easier, but I would doubt it would be harder than CSUF. So if you have meet the minimum GPA for the guarantee program I’d say the odds are good you’d also meet it at a CC.</p>

<p>You should look into which UC schools have a guarantee, and for which majors. You can complete a year at CSUF, a year at a CC, and qualify for the program (they require a certain number of units completed at a CC). Or you could roll the dice, as you seem to be thinking, quit CSUF, and go to the CC.</p>

<p>I do have to say that in your brief post I noticed a number of grammar errors, and this is something that’s really going to hurt you in grading in any class with term papers or in-class essay tests. Something you may want to work on.</p>
