Please bear with me here.. Advise and input needed.

Long story short: I am born and raised in the UK, but have been living in the states the last 6 years. I got my residency in 2009 and is about to remove my conditions for a new card that is valid for 10 years. However if I leave from more then six months, immigration is free to determine that I have abandoned my residency, and I would not be able to come back. I am also about to go trough a divorce that almost killed me, where my husband was violent and made me severely depressed. I have spent the last year or so to dig myself out of that whole I got into.

I was about to go to CCSF when it all started, so I am registered and I can pay in state fees. While I do not want to go back home, I was thinking of considering Paris or Amsterdam. Does these places have community college like we do here in the states? What happen if I do online courses at CCSF while living outside the USA?

I only have high school as of now, and would like to get at least a BA Management or even an MBA. Sadly I was unable to start at CCSF this January so now I will not be able to start until May. My husband left me broke with no savings and I have had a hard time getting a job. So I do not have too many ways to pay rent anymore, and getting a job seems even more difficult and daunting then ever, hence the time off in Europe.

While I know that getting a job is best done when in the country, or states in this case. Is going back to school when one is 35 to start from scratch too old? I am better off getting a career oriented certificated of some sort then degrees? Should I gamble on working 4-5 months back in Europe to save up at least some cash in order to pay rent?

I appreciate all serious advice and input anyone might have.. Thanks for reading and thanks for any assistance.

Regards,
Julie.
