Hello, I am Maria, 35 years old, born and raised in Denmark. The last few years I have been living and working in the USA, as a permanent resident, and I do not have a US Passport.

I am going through a ugly divorce and in the need of a change, so I would like to start going back to school. I do not currently have any education beside from High School. My grades were not the best, so I am not able to attend higher education back home, it need be something equal to the community colleges that will give me a chance to get better grades.

But, I am not sure if I should do it here in the USA or if I should go to France. Or look into doing something in the UK. Does France have anything like the US community colleges?
Right now I feel like I could benefit from being slightly closer to home, and without anyone
around me, living by myself and attending college just seems overwhelmingly expensive.

If I do it in a different state then my "local" state, CA, the fees also seems high to me. Sure, I could wait a year in order to pay in state fees elsewhere, but again, living alone in LA seems expensive to me. I wait a year to attend something in Arizona or other low cost states just seems...well, am 35 already...

Anyone has any good tips? Thanks for reading and thanks for any help.
