If I were to take a class over the summer at my local community college, would this affect my freshman scholarship eligibility? Depending on how AP’s go, I’ll be entering with 6-9 hours of credit from those.

You may want to get a letter of transiency from UA to be assured that the courses transfer, which can now be done on myBama. It’s on the student tab IIRC. You will still be able to keep your freshman scholarship, but it might be reassuring to you to contact your college at UA and inform them of this. I didn’t end up taking classes the summer before my freshman year, but I could have and am intending on taking a course at another university this summer.

I seem to remember a similar thread a couple weeks ago that would have more info about this topic.

a majority of community college classes taken at a community college IN Alabama will transfer to the University of Alabama. Also you are considered a freshman if you enter the university in the fall after you graduate in the spring no matter how many hours you have from AP/ dual enrollment.

i emailed about this about a week ago. the answer was that it was ok to take CC classes this summer.
