Has anyone here transferred to CAS from a community college? If so, how did you shape your curriculum at the community college (the "general liberal arts curriculum" suggested on NYU's website)? My intended major is linguistics, but I'm at a loss figuring out which classes to enroll in, as taking classes that can be applied towards your major is also recommended. Should I be trying to equate my curriculum to that of MAP? Is it possible to contact the department and get it straight from the horse's mouth?

(If you haven't personally been in this situation but can help, by all means please do.)

I don't think you should take classes comparable to MAP, because NYU will still make you take the MAP classes once you transfer (AKA, you won't get credit for MAP from those classes, NYU wants you to take THEIR MAP classes)

I should add that I will be a junior transfer. Considering this, will they still want me to take any MAP/lower division classes? My thinking is that to be competitive for admission, I should be as close to to regular NYU juniors as possible (academically).
