What are my chances of being accepted to Georgetown's Business school after a year of community college? If my chances are slim I would greatly appreciate advice.

High school:
GPA: 2.0
SAT: Didn't take

Community College:
Pre-Calc: 4.0
Psychology: 4.0
Calculus: 4.0
Statistics: 4.0
Comp & Lit I: 4.0
Comp & Lit II: 4.0
Art History: 4.0
Western Civilization: 4.0
Macroeconomics: 4.0
(Honors) Microeconomics: 4.0
General Biology: 4.0

Overall GPA: 4.0

Can’t do any better than 4.0, right? You’ll want to make sure that the circumstances around your high school performance are conveyed to the admissions committee. Whether you do that in one of your essays, or it is contained in a recommendation letter, they’ll need to understand where you’re coming from and why your CC record is truly representative of your academic abilities, rather than your HS record.

Definitely a great CC GPA. Does your CC have Phi Theta Kappa? If so, that can lead to some great scholarship opportunities (and would also look marvelous on your application).

I agree you’ll want to have an explanation of the high school underperformance and subsequent transformation in CC.

And get some great recommendations from some of those CC profs!

Overall, you have a strong chance, but a strong chance at G’town is still a slim chance. Transfer admissions are very competitive, so pursue other options as well.

Thank you for the help
