community college to stanford

and Columbia/Cornell

can someone chance my friend?

3.888 gpa
2310 SAT Score
780 Lit SAT II
800 World History
800 U.S. History

Hs gpa: 3.98 weighted/3.3 unweighted

Half hispanic/half asian

a few decent ECs here and there (not sure what they are exactly)

Major: English

So wait does the University look at your High School performance as well or does it only look at your community college stats?

why did he/she go to a cc?

Low hs gpa. didn’t get in anywhere else

Does his/her CC have a transfer agreement with Cornell?

wait, can universities look at your high school achievements(GPA, awards, tests scores etc) or is it just based on work done at the community college?

nope. thoughts on him getting in though?

zozobo: what was his major and what were his ECs? and where did he get in/end up? what was his race? thanks in advance!

Stanford admits transfer students as if it was creating an exotic petting zoo. Need high gpa plus a wow hook. Otherwise forget it… Be an ex-marine or a male cheerleader from the Pacific Rim or something else spectacular. The 1.5% transfer rate means almost all waste their $90 app fee.

Top private universities generally prefer 4-year students over those from community colleges.

^Absolutely untrue for Stanford.

i love how nobody in this thread has directly answered my question.

well stop making obnoxious comments to the people trying to help you and look at your friend’s stats yourself. he/she is obviously qualified to get into stanford, everyone’s saying at this point it comes down to a hook/luck

0.5%

10char

So you’re saying someone from, let’s say JHU, would be at a disadvantage?

you’re right. i apologize

Yes, if you look at Stanford’s transfer admits a massive amount of them are from CCs and non-traditional backgrounds.

yeah, this is what i’ve heard as well.
