Community College to UC Berkeley transfer

I got 2 C's in two transferable CC classes and 2 C's in two non-transferable CC classes. Afterwards after I realized my mistake I received straight A's and I plan on continuing to get straight A's which will lead me to have a 3.75 GPA by the time the 2013 fall semester will end. So my question is whats my chances of getting into UC Berkeley as a history major with a UC transferable GPA of 3.75 with strong extracurricular activities? I also commute to three different Community Colleges. I'm not sure if that would benefit me in any way though.

why are you awake at 430? just explain in your essay ur situation and u can still make it with ur gpa :slight_smile: Message me ur results for transfer and good luck!

Jleemd21 I thought you need a 4.0 GPA to get in berkeley. What make you think a 3.75 is good enough t oget in UCB ?

UC Berkley wants 4.0 students but they will accept lower G.P.A students from time to time. No matter where you go to school, you (not the school you attended) is the factor that will separate you from the pack. Just keep that in mind when stressing about college. The initial degree will look impressive on your resume, get you more job offers and a higher starting salary. People will be impressed when you say where you went to school. In 2-3 years, you will be measured based on your skill and how you do the job. If you go to MIT, Harvard UC Berkley, Cal Tec and simply do not perform well enough on the job, that will hurt you as people expect more from those that attend these schools. Your long term success is YOU, not just where you went to school. You can and will learn in school, on your own, and on the job. Just look at some of the richest people in the world and look at their degree. Some have none, some have degrees from low ranked schools. Challenge yourself to get all A’s, do great work at school and on the job, and work on interpersonal skills. Enough said.

EEdegree, well the fact is UCB specifically on their transfer webpage emphasis high GPA especially targeting GPA on the intended declared major. And, that’s the reason why on the personal statement for transfer students, they want to know why he/she picks the major and the reasons behind it.
I recently chance a guy who also plans to transfer to UCB. He is even already studying at UCI, strong in CS also. His overall GPA only 3.65, but his major GPA is a stunning 3.95. That is something I call it strong. You know UCs do bell curve on most classes, it is extremely difficult to get straight As. This is not highschool .That I can agree UCB will consider a lower overall GPA,but must be very strong on major GPA.

First of all, there is zero chance you will get your GPA that high with four C’s.

@michael

its possible. im in hs and have 2 c’s yet i have an gpa of 4.0-

@ MichaelGa, yeah I will raise my GPA to a 3.7 by the end of fall I’m planning on taking six courses (calc, chem, english B, 2 history classes, and some randome art course) and, I will receive A’s all of them. And two of the C’s aren’t even counted towards my UC transferable GPA. So, it is possible
