Community College Transfer Alumni

Hello,

I just wanted to know if there were any Community College Transfer alumni out there reading this forum? If so, where are you now?

Also if anyone knows of inspiring community college transfers please post them because I definitely need some inspiration right now!

Thanks,
Vanessa

Heh. So no one is going to post here I guess?

I hope to be talking about my success pretty soon, but for now I can just tell you about the student that I always talk about - mainly because I was so impressed.

A former student at my CC had a 3.9 GPA, good ECs, and around a 1500 SAT. Last year, he was admitted to Georgetown, Rice, and UT-McCombs and waitlisted at Harvard. Impressive for a CC applicant, especially since we're basically in Houston and Rice doesn't really like Texans. :D

Wow, waitlisted at Harvard...thats really impressive...

Wonder if he would have been accepted or not.....

oh didn't know transfer students can be waitlisted

think someone from cc posted last year that he was waitlisted at stanford last year...

he stayed on it and was never accepted.

As far as I know, Dick Cheney went to community college for a while...

That was different. He went to the Ivy League (Yale???? I forget), droped out, went to a community college in WY and then went to Wyoming. This was to evade serving in vietnam. Also, he had already gone to the ivy league and couldn't make it there. Its a bit different.

Also, it seems like every cc (and 4 years too) in the bay area claims Tom Hanks as a alumnus.

I don't know if it is that important. But the mayor of Los Angeles attended a so-cal cc before transferring to UCLA. I'm pretty sure sooner or later he will run for governor.

Villagrosa?

yup, he attended East Los Angeles community college, then transferred to UCLA. Later on he attended a very small unknown law school. He also failed the bar exam.

Politicians generally don't do well as students...FDR failed out of Columbia Law and went on to become Mayor of NYC and then the Presidency
