Community College

Hello,

I am a community college student. I am just wondering if there are any other community college students that have already transferred, what they did and where they ended up?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I read that thread. I was looking to see if there were other community college students as well.

right here

i just finished up two years at a community college. i went there because I wanted to boost my grades a bit in order to get into a good school (my hs grades weren't good at all and i knew i could do better) as well as to take some time to figure out what i wanted to do in life. i'll be transferring to cornell in the fall.

It was great to hear about your experience. That is quite inspiring. I am also in a similar boat and am attending community college. This transfer forum is quite inspiring. Would you mind just telling a little more about yourself and what you were involved in and what you did at your community college that made you such an attractive student?

By the way if there are other people in the same boat as me I would love to hear your story. I am a community college student. In high school I went a nationally ranked public high school (17th in the nation). I had all the opportunities, and being of a economically and minority background I had tons of help as well. The problem that I had in high school was that I had many problems in my family life. For example, in my journal year my fist semester gpa was a 3.85 then it went down to a 2.45 the next semester. I had quite a pattern of that spiraling up and down throughout my high school career. It is sad when I think about it because I have always felt at home at school and learning has always been where I thrived. When it came to the choice of selecting a college, I knew I would do best at a community college so I could have some freedom to get my self together so I could go to the best place.

The decision to attend a community college really is working out quite nicely for me. I am lucky to go to one of the best community colleges in the nation. I have been able to maintain a 4.0GPA despite taking a rigorous pre-medicine courseload, working 25-30 hours a week and becoming involved in extracurriculars. I have also started two undergraduate research papers and should be publishing in some major and minor scientific journals this spring 2007. I have pursued my passions here. At first it felt kind of forced because I knew the pressure was on me to get good grades and get scholarships so I felt kind of forced to be this super student. But after relaxing and reassessing what is important, I realized that by just being myself and pursuing the things that I enjoy I could be that student and so much more because I could actually be myself.

Now I am just in the grind, studying for SATs (never took 'em in high school), writing applications, applying for scholarships, etc. It can sometimes get rough so I am glad to have people like you to look to and hope that maybe I can get there soon.

Anyway thats my community college story. Thanks again for posting about yourself and where you are know. I feel truly inspired and it gives me something to look towards.
