Community Service Essay Question

Hey guys!

For my common app essay I wrote about one of my community service programs I’m in but the University of Pittsburgh has a supplemental essay question asking: “An important emphasis of PittHonors is working for the public good. Please describe how you have worked for the public good in the past and how you expect to continue to do so as a student at the University of Pittsburgh and after graduation.”

Can I write about the same community service that I wrote about in my common app essay since it is such an important part of my life or is it bad to be redundant?

It would probably be best to take advantage of the opportunity to give them even more insight into who you are by introducing them to a new side of you. Colleges want students with a variety of interests, and you don’t want the admissions staff to get bored reading two very similar essays.

On the other hand, if you don’t have any other experiences that would fit that prompt, you could write about the community service but approach it differently then in your common app essay?
