Many colleges require us to volunteer. does it matter if we do an it individually or as a club? How many hours is the minumum number that we need. Anyone living in socal has any recommendation as to where should I do my community services? Thanks alot.

I've never heard of a college requiring applicants to volunteer.

I second that

Just find something that you're interested in. If you can't find something, then you shouldn't volunteer. Personally, I love the volunteer work that I do. I don't think there are any requirements, but I have found it to be rewarding and I'm continuing next year.

If there are any voluteer-type clubs at your school you should get involved with one of them. It may help you get some ideas of your own for independent voluteer work, and then you can continue to participate in the club and pursue your own community service :)

Go to your local public library and say you want to help out as a volunteer. It's pretty easy at my local libraries.

theoneo- i like your location. :)

Yeah, I don't think anybody requires service hours, but it always looks good. Try to find something that you can have fun with too, or that you enjoy. Also find new ways to help a place that has always needed help. Last summer, my friends & I wanted to help the Animal Shelter, but we wanted to do something different. So, we raised money & with that money we bought items that the Shelter needed. There's all kinds of ideas. Be creative.
