Commute

I am thinking about commuting next year which is about 45 minutes-1 hour but I’m planning on only getting classes Tuesday/Thursdays or online if I can. I’m doing it to save money. Do you think this would be a good idea or would it be too much? I’m also planning on working on other days. I live on campus right now and it’s so much money and I don’t really like it, I rather be back home. All opinions are welcome thanks.

With the restrictions of “tuesday/thursday or online only” – it may be very difficult to actually finish a degree that way.

You might be able to do it temporarily, but you need to figure out a longer-term plan as well.

If you are receiving financial aid, your cost of attendance will be adjusted for the new living arrangement. They won’t just take the room and board charge off and leave the aid the same, so be sure to check with the financial aid office to understand to how/if your package would change.

If you live in a part of the country with snow or other significant weather, think about how long your commute might be during a blizzard or storm or whatever type of weather you get.

It’s going to be much harder to maintain a social life.

It’s certainly doable, if you can manage it there really shouldn’t be a problem.

What classes would you take on T-TH and which would you take online?

It is definitely do-able! Take into consideration what the weather is like in your area and that if a storm hits on Tuesday or Thursday or Monday or Wednesday it may impact your travel to school those days. Remember once you live off campus financial aid will be changed and may earn a lot less if you live off campus when you must live on campus if its your 1st or 2nd year for example. I currently do Tuesday/Thursday classes and one online class, I’m still trying to get used to it cause those classes are the long periods doing it 2 days. You could try it, just keep in mind that you will get burned out by the end of those days and remember to study and do homework on the other 5 days since that is what they really are for! ha
