I have heard several colleges on CC being described as commuter schools - my son I believe, ended up going to one. Is Ole Miss the same? Does it empty out on weekends or do very many people go home then? It's not really a problem for us, either way. We were just curious. The real issue for my son is that because his school is more of a commuter school, many of the eating options are closed on weekends, and even some are closed early evening. It won't be a problem for D, but she is still curious.

Not a commuter school. Many students are in Oxford on the weekends. Lots of weekend activities on and off campus.

I definitely would not call it a commuter school. All freshman live on campus and most upperclassmen live on campus or in nearby apartments. There are free shuttles that take students to and from campus and to the local shopping and entertainment areas. It’s a typical small college town.

Thanks guys!
