Comp Sci major @ CSUS: Where should I transfer?

I'm beginning my second year at CSU Sacramento. With how difficult it's been for me to get into classes, I have amassed a disappointing 27 units so far, and am working on another 13 this semester. If I can squeeze into a closed English class it'll go up to 16, but that's unlikely. I started as a music major (was a band geek in high school, learned midway through 2nd semester that it's more of a hobby for me) but have since switched my major to computer science. If it's worth noting, I also have 22 transferable units from community college music classes I took in high school. As much as I am enjoying the major itself, it's the school that I'm having trouble with. My projected graduation date is Fall 2018, and each semester becomes more of a drag than the last. My current cumulative GPA is 3.347, but I am really going to kick it into gear from here on out with the hopes that I can soon transfer to another school soon. What I am wondering is:

What in-state schools have a better computer science program than Sac State, that I would have a decent chance of being accepted into if I transfer, would be less depressing to attend, and easier to get into the classes I need to graduate.

I'm normally a very adaptable person, so class sizes/location/gender and race ratios etc. don't bother me any. I thought I'd be fine at sac state, but I've lived here almost 14 years and have never really liked the area to begin with. That being said, I don't think I could stand going to college here for another 6 years.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Chico State has a good CS program.

Why are you having such difficulty getting classes?

The problem of getting lower division courses needed for Computer Science such as Calculus, Physics and CS are not unique to Sacramento State. Due to budget cuts affecting all public higher education in California you will run into the same problems in the CCCs, CSUs and UCs. You still have some seniority at Sacramento State which gives you earlier registration dates which you may not get if you transfer to a new school.

You have to expect that when you change your major from Music to Computer Science which has a long string of completely different prerequisites and requirements than Music you are going to have to expect it is going to take you longer to graduate than if you had remained a Music major.

CCs tend to have the worst problem with this, due to being open admission. UCs do not appear to have this problem that much, probably due to tighter admission controls on enrollment and the large number of graduate students who can be used to add extra discussion sections to large freshman level classes. Some CSUs have four year graduation pledges to give priority class registration to students who agree to follow the course plans for their majors and not need remedial courses.
