Comp Sci Project for Company?

Hi!

So I’m currently a student in TX (junior) doing a 4 year summer enrichment program. This summer will be my fourth and final year and during the 4th year, I will be:

Take dual credit courses, work with a company and learn how to code for their platform, and then make a project in it and present it to the company executives. (Company was previously Schlumburger, could change)

I’m wondering if this is worthy of mentioning on my college apps/or shows demonstrated STEM interest. I’m not majoring in comp sci, but I do plan to minor in it, so some comp sci experience would be good.

Absolutely! This has been a large part of your high school career, and just because you do not plan to major in CS does not make it less important. You seem dedicated to it, and that shows character. You have multiple slots, so I am sure you can spare one. Good luck! :slight_smile:

@ab2002 Thank you!

Didn’t want another thread so I’ll ask here:

I have two options of what to do this summer and I’m not sure which I should do:

  1. Computer science project for company for 6 weeks + retirment home/hopsital volunteering + summer job (ex. Kumon)
  2. Research at a lab all day for three months (I have some research experience already, maybe thats good? not sure) which I could possibly submit to contests, but no guarantee
