Compared to MIT, how is Caltech's social life?

How is it in general also? After explanation, please rank it from a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the worse and 10 the best.

We don't go to MIT. We honestly don't know. Forget some useless number scale rank system, what are you looking for in your social life? Then maybe, I can help you see if Caltech has what you are looking for, or someone else can.

Also, you need to get into these schools first, before you need to start worrying about which one has a better social life (no offense). Once and if you get in, you can then visit if possible, and if not, then I promise to be much more helpful than right now :)

If you just want to know in general, with no regard to admissions or choosing a place to attend, then I apologize, and it would be helpful if you define "social life" a bit better.

I hear there's people here at Caltech. There might be some at MIT as well. So, I'd say somewhere around a 9.

"I hear there's people here at Caltech."

yeah, it said so in NY times.. but turned out just to be rumors. the day you find people at caltech is the day that britney is going to start wearing underwear.. and we all know that ain't gonna happen ever.

In all seriousness, the social atmospheres at MIT, Caltech, and Stanford are all very different. The only way you are going to really understand the differences and their significance to you is to visit all three.

I hated the social atmosphere at Stanford, liked it at Caltech and MIT.

I just don't want to see majority of the people staying indoors during any free period or anything (not all the time, obviously; I understand this during finals or something). I would like to see interraction, people playing frisbee, etc.
I got the notion from some people I know that Caltech consists people who are "antisocial" and don't "come out to play often."

There are plenty of antisocial people at Caltech (and I would imagine at MIT as well). There are also plenty of social people.

I like the social environment here. Again, though, you need to come visit to really get an idea of the environment.

Agree with lizzardfire, if you get in, you need to visit and see for yourself if it's what you want.
