Actually, i just learned that one kid might be getting val who doesn’t deserve it cuz we do UW, and there are still all AP/Honors kids with 4.08 and such

I’m on track for val in my class (of 565). Valedictorian at my school is given to the student with the highest unweighted GPA who has taken a minimum of 3 AP classes. I have a 4.0 unweighted right now (have no idea what is is weighted).

4.0/4.0 always. :/

Last year was two tied for 4.0–first time in a long time that anyone had a 4.0.

My school doesn’t have valedictorians but the kid who is ranked number 1 took like 3 AP classes and enough dual enrollment classes to get him his AA by the time he graduates. He is such a genius, I’m jealous. 35 on his ACT the first time without studying at all. He has a 4.0 unweighted.

that is not that impressive for a valedictorian

I think 2012’s was like 4.47. She had taken 10 APs (school had 11 APs. Now we have 12)

She went to CSU Long Beach on a full ride for four years, Room and board included. She said she had virtually no expenses.

Don’t know and could care less about what his/her GPA is tbh.

Our grades are percentages, so the val and sal usually have 98.5 or so and the difference between them is literally hundredths of points. Those people are scary.

Class of 2012:
Valedictorian was around 97 something, salutatorian was 96 something.

Class of 2013:
99.021. The salutatorian is 97.something.

We rank based on weighted 100-point-scale grades. Also, we are an IB school! I believe she has a 102 something.

@missmbv: You’re lucky. Our school is IB as well, but our IB classes are only weighted up to a 100. It’s odd.

5.375 out of 6.0 (APs are worth 6, honors 5, standard 4) she probably took around 15 APs… You can’t skip out of a lot of standard electives (you have to take gym and get two language credits which are all standard classes, not to mention any other elective you take and you need 8… But I think some academic courses count as electives).

Hopefully by the end of this year (if I get all a’s) I’ll have a 5.0-5.1 gpa, and next year prolly closer to a 5.2, and senior year maybe a 5.3… I’m probably ranked #1 out of 700 right now (but we wont know officially till next semester). Also not sure how Val and sal are done at my school… I was pretty sure it was done by GPA but it might also be done by the speeches turned in… hopefully not.

Last one was 4.265 / 4

The one from my class will most likely be higher, since he’s insanely smart/taking a ton of AP classes already.

My high school uses a weighted system where AP classes are given a multiplier of 1.2. (thus, an ‘A’ becomes a 4.8, a ‘B’ becomes a 3.6, etc.) However, we only have 6 AP classes available to us.

The valedictorian is usually between a 4.1 and a 4.2.

My junior (now senior) class:

Me, 1 AP, 100.38 weighted average.

The mediocrity :(

(regular classes: 4.0; honors/AP: 5.0)

Last year: 4.6-4.7, probably 8 APs by the time of graduation

Year before: 4.6 and 6 APs senior year

2 Years before: 4.7

4.0… Let be honest most school unwieghted will be 4.0

@iluvbooks94 That’s weird! I think out counselor said they add NINE points for IB now. If you’re in the full program it’s great!

5.2 or 5.4, weighted. She ended up going to an in-state school
