Daughter has been accepted at all three. Interested in studying (probably)graphic design, with an eye to eventually working in an art dept. of a magazine. Seems to me that SVA would be best for the networking/contact aspects, but physical plant there doesn't seem great. Have already been to SVA. Daughter did a summer program at Tyler (which, by the way, is moving to the main campus of Temple U. in about another year, when a new art building is completed). We will visit UArts and Tyler, but looking for any information on the reputation of all three. Thanks!

For GD, SVA has a STELLAR reputation.

A friend of mine is a junior there and interning for MTV, working on stuff that has actually appeared on air.

If you want to see some of the pro-bono work he did as a sophmore/freshman at SVA, you can go here: http://bronxunderground.com

I actually just got back from visiting Tyler/Temple today, so I can share a bit of my impressions. I was overall extremely impressed with everything I saw at both campuses, and one of the things that I really love is the ability to have an academic double major or minor. The move to Temple's main campus (which you mentioned) is also very exciting, but it's going to take a while. They have broken ground, but at the moment, it's still just a cleared out parking lot. All the literature they give out still says it's projected for 2008, but most of the people I talked to at Tyler (my tour guide, the admissions councelor I spoke with, and the professors I spoke with) said that it will be more like 2010 realistically, though the builders are now saying 2009. So my guess would be that they will complete the building sometime during the 2009-2010 school year. They did say that after the building is complete, the official move of the school will happen that summer, so when students return to school in the fall, they will just go to Temple's main campus. This should ease the transition in that students won't have to worry about switching dorms during the year and the faculty will have ample time throughout the summer to make the move. I didn't really pay attention to the graphic design program, but from what I saw, Tyler is a fantastic art school with a strong foundation year and a great reputation. Hope this helps and good luck to your daughter wherever she decides!
