Competitive applicant? LACs, Ivies, etc.

Hey, y'all! Would you mind seeing if I'm a match for any of my top schools?

Amherst, Pomona, Middlebury, Carnegie Mellon, McGill, Cornell (legacy- both parents), UChicago (#1 choice- deferred), Harvard (definite reach, but I applied for the hell of it)

SAT: 2080- 670 CR, 640 M, 770 W (essay- 10)
SAT II: French reading 780, Spanish reading 760, Math I 670
ACT: 30

Wt GPA: 4.5/5 (had a rocky freshman yr; my current semester GPA is 4.8)
Rank: 12/274 (top 5%)

Ethnicity: Hispanic (non-native Spanish speaker)

Courses: 11 APs total (of the four tests I've taken so far: 5, 5, 4, 4), the rest honors

Extracurriculars: VP of a club, 4 yr Spanish club member (was secretary 1 yr), 4 yr summer work experience, youth group, consistent volunteer experience, a few other clubs, 1 season of swimming in junior year (which brought my GPA down & I explained in my additional info section)

Awards: AP Scholar with honor, NHS, distinguished honors student

Your GPA and class rank are subpar. Your test scores are impressive, but they too are subpar for a few of these schools i.e. Harvard.

the only real shot u have is URM

@Rurouni URM= Under-represented minority?

Yes.

I would say your test scores are low, but your ethnicity boost makes up for that. You have a very, very good chance at Cornell with 2 parents, I would be surprised if you didn’t get in. Harvard is a definite reach, as it is for anyone and the rest your are well qualified for.

Your ethnicity helps a lot. I disagree, your rank is impressive, but SAT are low for these schools (1310 considering schools dont even look at writing). good shot at cornell because of double legacy

@Mandalorian @Peezus thanks for the constructive comments, guys!

Get the SAT to 2300 and you have a chance
