do colleges see the separate scores of the act or do they just see the composite?

they see the composite and the subscores

Do they care more about the sub-scores or the composite. Like would a 31 composite with a 24 in English be a real problem?

It would depend on the subscore's consistency with your grades. For example, if you had a B average in English through high school, a 24-29 would be somewhat understandable.

I think colleges would rather scores that most closely your strengths. That said, they don't want low scores either...

Thanks...English has always always been one of her weaker subjects...93 in IB English this year. She does better in class than on tests though, because of the time factor in the ACT. English regents she got a 96 because you get 3 hours for a 2 hour test.

do colleges also see sub-sub scores, like Pre-Algebra or Literature/Art Reading?
