This is kind of a strange question but I just got a 30 on my last ACT which was my third time taking it. My Scores were:
English: 32
Math:32
Reading:25
Science:31
As you can see, reading completely screwed up my score. Will colleges realize that my composite would have been higher if it wasn't for my reading so would they look at the 30 more positively because all of the other 3 sections were above 30 or will it make no difference? I am applying to highly selective schools. Also, for schools that superscore, I have a 31 because I got a 27 on the April Reading.

The Composite is what matters. Unless you’re looking into Ivy Leagues, a 30 should get you where you need to go. However, if by highly selective you mean top in the country, then a 30 is not competitive at all; you’ll have to retake it and try to get at least a 32, and that’s only good enough if you have outstanding other aspects of your application.

@ratmkino Thanks for the response. I am applying to Duke ED ( I know my tests scores are really low for them, just hoping to get in luckily), but i also have a legacy. Duke, Rice, Vanderbilt, UNC are my reach schools but everywhere else i am applying to i should be fine. (Such as UTexas UMich Wake Forest UWisconsin) My Test scores are my weakest part. I have pretty good grades and strong EC’s.

I’m sure you’ll do fine then. Realize that 30 is the 95th percentile.

Thanks… I know that but for my reach schools it is not good at all lol. I dont really care about the percentile.
