I just got my results back and I got:
Composite=32
E=35
M=33
R=30
S=31

I'm aiming for the Ivys, Northwestern, Duke, etc...
I have a really high GPA (projected 4.68 by the end of high school), really rigorous classes (practically all H/AP), and pretty good leadership/community service...
should I retake it to try to get a point or two up, or am I safe with the 32?

it’s in the middle of the ACT ranges for some of those schools but some of the ones that range from 29-34 usually accept people on the lower end for some particular reason - maybe they are a nationally recognized musician, an underrepresented minority, first generation, something like that. you could certainly get in with that profile (that’s an incredible GPA) but to be in the safer range a few points higher wouldn’t hurt.

i did 3 practice tests before this ACT (from the Real ACT book)…so hopefully a few more practice tests will help
any suggestions for getting reading up? any really good books? i think i may try barron’s 36, although I heard it’s a lot harder
science i just really need to improve timing…

try hardest to improve reading. it is easier to improve on - science sucks for everyone. if you do enough you can pick out patterns in the questions and answers. underline the heck out of the text when you’re reading a passage to increase comprehension. always read the explanations of why you got an answer wrong in this section. picture what’s going on in the passage in your head like a movie. I got a perfect score on reading by doing those things…

@joshh, thank you so much!
what exactly do you underline in the passages?
also, do you read the passage first then do the questions, or do you skim the questions then read the passage?
