CompSci Honors: Worth it?

I just submitted my application. Yay? Not quite yet. I probably do not have as much "prior" experience in Computer Science when compared to others entering the major. With that in mind should I still apply?

I have been known to be an unnecessary over-achiever, but what benefits would honors give me in comparison with the downers of not having alot of prior experience and giving myself a difficult time?

P.S. I've heard the whole smaller classes, good study group, yay honor's dorm spiel, but is it "reaaaaaaaally" true? I'm sorta paranoid about believing pamphlets and guidebooks ever since that not so magical trip to Disney World where I chose the WRONG hotel to go because the pamphlet lied. I definitely don't want to treat my education the same way.

P.S: There is also that chance that since I have been unable to take a formal Computer Science Class during my HS years I may not even be considered for honors. :(
Input please?

I don’t know much about UT CS other than that it is good. But yes, I would suggest applying to Honors CS. I think the classes would be smaller and there would be better advising and more challenging projects, along with more opportunities to do research. Not having prior CS experience won’t hurt you since not everybody has the opportunity or environment to program in high school. They care about grades and achievement in math and science as well as general aptitude to do well in computer science.
