computer engineering v. electrical

I would like to know what exactly I can do career-wise w/ a either of these majors. Right now I am declared as a computer engineering major but I don't really know the major. I was kind of forced by my adviser because of my AP credit and was not allow to stick with just engineering as a major. Now I am wondering if I should stick with it or maybe go to the next closest thing - electrical. What do you guys think?

You should post this in the Engineering Majors forum. You'll get plenty of feedback.

Why not talk to the advisor in your major, or visit the career center at your school?

CE and EE majors differ among colleges; the people at your college will be more familiar with what grads from your college have been doing with these majors.

It's grouped into one major here, ECE (Electrical and Computer Engineering)...they seem pretty similar

I believe most jobs posted for computer engineers also accept electrical engineers. I think electrical engineering gives you greater flexibility. If you end up still liking computer engineering, you can take forth year courses specializing in the area. Hedge your bets with a EE degree.
