Computer Engineering vs Computer Programming

Does computer programming follow under the sciences category or engineer category?

It depends on the college. Some will put Computer Science in the school of arts & sciences, some will put it into the school of engineering, at some universities it is offered in both. Note there is not a major in ‘computer programming’, but in computer science. Programming is one aspect of computer science. You will likely take some computer science and programming as a CE major as well.

It would probably be clearer if they called Computer Science “Software Engineering” and Computer Engineering “Hardware Engineering”. But generally they don’t.

As with any major, you can look up the major degree requirements at any school to get a better understanding of what the degree entails.

I personally wouldn’t trust a B.A. in any “science” discipline, but that might be just me. If a school offers a B.S. and a B.A. in the same major, get the B.S.
