some stupid downloads have mad my computer super slow, and ive started getting a ton of popups. i've run virus scan, deleted everything i could, some things 'couldn't be deleted', so the computer quarantied them, but I just went into the folder and deleted. also, now when i type, the keyboard seems to take more "finger pressure" to detect me pressing down, i press the keys and not all the letters come up, i have to go back and type more slowly, etc.

no new viruses or adware is coming up what can i do? i need to find the problem, i have already lost one (albeit very old) computer to annoying adware, etc. EVERYTHING is so slow, even microsoft word...lol

I ain't a computer geek but I can atleast tell u this that, after invasion of popups one should definitely restore his/her computer. That's all u need to do and u'll get a fresh computer (ur files ARE going to be there, so don't worry)

yeah. if Adware isnt working you should restore your computer. save your files onto something like main, important ones. find your restore cd and restore the comp. adware and spyware just are annoying, thats why i dont go on those kind of sites and allow/accept those popups.

for your keyboard i think you need a new one, or maybe get a dust spray and spray your keyboards inside from like little debris.

What anti-virus software do you use? Some are really crappy at picking up viruses, so that could be it. System Restore to a few days/weeks back should fix it. If system restore doesn't work, just re-install windows. You might have to install everything again, but it's worth it if you have a virus now. And if you're CD/DVD burning software works right now, backup anything really vital and important.

sorry but how do i do this whole system restore thing? is it a cd need to look for? i have norton go-back, but the stupid thing didnt have a restore point far back enough to be before the trouble started... my virus software is some weird "network associates virus scan software", i'm not used to it, I used to have norton, should I install that instead (assuming I system restore) to ward off future troubles?

also, re the keyboard: it's a laptop, so i cant exactly get a new one. but i will mention that the typing trouble isn't constant, its on again off again, like right now it seems pretty fine... i was thinking maybe the computer was so backed up/slow that it couldn't keep up with my typing? lol if that makes sense

the restore thing is in a cd, shouldve came with your comp. when you purchased it. the keyboard happens to my desktops sometimes. nortons suck btw.

People are talking about two different things here. One is system restore, which you should be able to do easily and won't delete any files. This just restores settings (such as registry settings) to an earlier date, so whatever settings the malware has messed with should revert back to normal and hopefully fix the problem.

I don't know what operating system you have, but on my windows machine system restore is located in All Programs >> Accesories >> System Tools >> System Restore. Click "Restore my computer to an earlier time..." and choose a date well before this began happening.

The other type of restore that people are talking about is a "Restore to factory settings" type thing-- this should wipe everything back to the way your computer was when you bought it. (I'm fairly certain this deletes all your files/installed programs, etc, so try other means before this if you can.) You should have a restore cd that was included with your pc when you got it. [Look up help on this other than me; I've never done it before and in fact don't think I ever got a dang restore cd :D]

Well, your computer could just be running out of space on its hard drive. That would make it run slower. But, I think that the pop-ups suggest otherwise... the same thing happened on my old computer, and it DEFINITELY had spyware or viruses.

But, if spyware and icky stuff like that IS what's making your computer messed us, restore your computer before it's too late! The same thing happened to me, but I just tried to ignore it. One day, my computer just crashed. My father, who founded a computer company, brought it in for his genius buddies to examine... they couldn't save it, either. =( So, save your computer while you still can!

listen to aniviel with the first option. it should work. afterwards get AVG Free, Adaware, and Ewido Spyware detector to root out anything else. Combined together they work pretty damn good.

I've got AVG anti-spyware scanning right now, but it probably won't find much thanks to that system restore ;) and i'm d/ling the others^^^ so hopefully my computer will still be working great for school next year :)

oh god. haha so its halfway done with the scan and sofar its found 222 infected objcts?!?! all these 'threats' are named 'trackingcookie.'something
