I’m a freshman at a community college currently. I took algebra and geometry during my fall semester. As far as I know, I can’t take a math course during winter and then the next course in spring, since grades don’t come out fast enough to register. Because of this, I won’t be able to reach calculus 2 or Elec Magnetism by the time I’m supposed to transfer out. Those will be the only courses that I won’t be able to take in time to transfer. Will I still have a decent chance for admission at either UCSD or UCI even if I don’t take those two courses?
UCSD requires Calc 3 and Linear Algebra in addition to Calc 2 for transfer admissions, so you’ll be missing 3 required courses, assuming you’ve taken at least one programming course.
UCI requires one year of Calc and CS for transfer admissions, so you’ll be missing at least 1 required course.
I don’t think you’ll be able to transfer to either schools since you don’t meet the minimum requirements. Your best bet would be to wait another year to apply and TAG UCI for backup. Also, while Physics EM isn’t required for either schools as a transfer requirement, CS is popular so you’ll want to take it to be more competitive.
